Omega 3 and CLA Breakfast

It was a great morning to get on the bikes and head to Starbucks. While at Starbucks I got a venti green tea latte (match green tea, no syrup or sweeteners and full fat milk) and Rog got a tall black coffee with 2-3oz of heavy whipping cream. After Starbucks we headed over to Whole Foods for our weekend ritual to buy coconut milk, grass-fed beef, wild caught fish, a few organic veggies and loads of heavy whipping cream. Yep, we put all of this in bike packs and backpacks. We tend to find deals online and buy in bulk so it cuts down on our load. Rog just bought 20lbs of grass-fed beef from Burgundy Pasture Beef (we are their biggest fans!) and 6-16oz containers of extra virgin coconut oil and 6-600 gram containers of Super Seed from Vitamin Shoppe.
Then we indulged in a sardine salad for breakfast. It consisted of white onions sauteed in extra virgin coconut oil, organic mixed baby greens, avocado, walnuts, chunks of Gruyere cheese, wild caught sardines packed in water, 2 tblsp balsamic vinegar and 5tblsp of extra virgin coconut oil, minced clove of garlic and a pinch of herb salt (for flavor). Yummy!
The wild caught sardines are a convenient and inexpensive source of omega 3 essential fatty acids. The coconut oil is rich in medium chain triglycerides and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA).
