Making Room for What Really Matters

I don't really share too much about my spiritual side, but after a recent sermon at Lake Hills Church I found the message truly articulated a very important reason for my recent decision with coaching Crossfit. I share with you as I know we all struggle with "margin-itis"-inflammation of the space between what we have and what we need. The inflammation/ expanding of all the things that crowd out the margin that we are created to live with. You can view Mac Richard's sermon here (week 2). You'll truly enjoy his approach to sharing the message.

Three consequences of "margin-itis":
#1. Good things replace the best things-we don't make the most of every opportunity. We live re-actively, not proactively. Great question should be... "Should I? Is it wise? Can I?" The power of NO.
#2. Routine replaces relationship- Forfeit relationships for the sake of routine. Routine question is"Do I have to?" vs. Relationship question should be..."Do I get to?"
#3. Demands replace Devotion-when we don't schedule time for friends, family and others we place demands upon ourselves as we think about ourselves. Devotion question: "What is my calling? What am I devoted to?"
